The Coin technology was developed to enhance heat dissipation from high power components to a cooling fin on the back side of the board, and by that to improve the reliability of the components.

The coin is actually a copper core embedded inside the PCB, right beneath the high power component, and transferring the heat it generates. The coin can be also used as a conductor in the circuit.

Coin technology brings a very good thermal and electric transmission, which is achieved by a relatively simple and low cost process.
